HPHT Wellheads: 20,000 psi

The higher the pressure, the more risk you take. And with more risk, the more you need to trust your wellhead’s reliability. That’s what sets FMC apart – we understand the risks you’re taking with HPHT environments. We don’t release any 20K equipment that has not undergone our stringent endurance cycle testing. FMC’s 20K technology, with a gate valve proven to exceed API 6A PR2 (Annex F) – API’s most rigorous qualification – is made to last at least twenty years. That’s why several customers have trusted FMC to provide a complete 20K drilling and completion solution. Our focus on providing a highly tested and beyond-API qualified product line gives you the reassurance you need when drilling in HPHT environments. You aren’t taking a risk with FMC’s 20K equipment. It is designed to be trusted.

20,000 psi wellhead and tree
FMC’s 20K drilling and completion package is more than a conventional wellhead qualified to a higher pressure. Valid for environments from -50 to 350F, the 20K wellhead has a reduced stackup height, made possible by multiple spool configurations. Utilizing lockdown screw technology, this bubble-tight design prevents components’ movement inside the well.

The 20K tubing head assembly and tubing hanger are developed from highly corrosion-resistant materials. The head adapts to any existing wellhead, allowing existing wellheads to be used - reducing your bottom-line costs. The hanger uses redundant seals to add to the proven field reliability of this system, in addition to the metal-to-metal packoff.

20,000 psi valves and seals
Taking advantage of API-standard PSL 3G parts for certain components, the value in our HPHT systems comes from our highly qualified valves and seals. Specially designed for 20K applications, the rough casing metal seal (RCMS) assembly creates the most cost-efficient system for 20K applications. Silver brush-plated and API PR2 tested, the RCMS does not bite into the casing as it creates a bubble-tight seal. The RCMS can be applied to sizes 5" through 7-3/4" for 20,000 psi.

The Model 160 gate valve has been tested to 500 cycles; 300 cycles beyond API 6A PR2 Annex F requirements. It has a 20-year design life and enhanced corrosion resistance, as a result of careful material selection and hardfacing. The added anti-blowout features hold the stem backseat in place; the stem is threaded into a slab gate, which will never pressure lock. Available from 2-1/16" to 4-1/16", through 2-9/16" the Model 160 can be either manual or actuated.
